Synopsis:

The Near Death Experience (NDE) is all to do with consciousness or awareness of the person when he/she is on the verge of death or has died. I have been at this point of no return and have returned to tell the story, needless to say, a controversial story but one that has governed my life since I’ve had my awakening.

The first 7 chapters of the book deal with my near death experiences. The preceding chapters describe my struggle to survive in this desperate world, that we find ourselves in. The continuation in chapter 8, is a recollection of sounds and sights that I had, whilst I was wrestling with my conscious awareness, as my brain was dying. When I was cognisant again, with 27% of my brain dead, I had to deal with ‘the politics of being a cripple’.

This story came about from my own curiosity in relation to life, the meaning of life and the significance of me in this world, as the person that I am. These chapters explain my conscious position, preceding my death and thereafter. My life started again into this world, after I woke up on October 2nd 1981.

Author Biography:

For several years I repressed the memory of my experience, unconsciously, feeling I’d been forced from that exquisite place that was so dear to me, to return to this poignant earth.

Nevertheless, even unconsciously, the insights from my NDE had changed the way I looked at life. The most important thing I learnt is the significance of unconditional love, which is our true nature and the innermost nature of life itself. I learned not to fear death. As long as we are afraid of death, we will also be afraid of life. We won’t be able to comprehend or express our true selves, which is just as loving and beautiful, as the beings I'd encountered in my encounter.

In my experience, people and  my family have great difficulty in understanding my beliefs and behaviour, which leads me to lead a life of solitude. I particularly have difficulty in accepting the conditions and limitations of human relationships, after experiencing a sense of unconditional love, while I was in the presence of ‘the light.’ I have shown a definite increase in spirituality and an undying, relentless pursuit in spiritual development. I appreciate every minute that I am breathing. My concern for others is paramount, but nevertheless, ineffectual in more ways than one, because of the way I feel about their acceptance of my being.

My state of being is this; I am crippled. I don't have a closeted mind. I have a decreased fear of death, am less materialistic and less competitive. I see myself as an integral component of a benevolent and unwavering universe.

I'm an adventurous, fun, spontaneous, life-loving man who isn’t afraid of taking risks. I'm in love with life. I love travelling around the country and experiencing new places. I'm constantly trying to do away with judgments and expectations. I love and live copiously.

Praise/ Reviews:

The Current Title – How catchy is it? How well does it convey the information in the manuscript?

The title is very catchy. It alludes to the fact that the character has died and then has to develop a strength of will to survive, which works well for the subject matter. The title is broad, without sounding trite.

The Current Synopsis – How catchy is it? Does it intrigue?

This is certainly an intriguing manuscript. It deals with death and life after death, with closed brain damage. A subject many people would be interested to read about, from this knowledgeable perspective.

The Current Length of the Work – Is it appropriate for the target market?

For such a concentrated topic, this work is at a good length, with a flowing story line.

What is the power of the opening 3-5 sentences?

The prologue is very powerful. The target audience, for this work, has a firm association with these questions and will therefore be obliged to read further. The opening sentences after the prologue are also intriguing.

 The Main Character:

The main  character, our narrator, has a powerful and lasting impression. He is one of the strongest points of the work. He is realistic and we believe him when he speaks.

Supporting Characters (if any):

Characters other than our narrator, have a small part in the large scheme of the work, although they are all very realistic. We see this through their dialogue.

Dialogue (if any) – Describe and comment:

The dialogue is very natural and knowledgeable. When the doctors are speaking, they are completely believable, even to an audience that doesn’t understand all of the terminology.

Conclusion: An above average submission. The work is very saleable and will captivate audiences if marketed correctly. It could also become controversial, especially with the topics regarding the human convictions of the author, in the last chapter.
